Northwest Africa 12510 (NWA 12510) Algeria Purchased: 2018 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Adam Ait Hiba in Tan-Tan, Morocco, Oct 2018. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) one dark-gray stone of 88 g with white-gray areas presenting rusty spots, without fusion crust Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) well-defined chondrules (PO, PP, BO, RP, complex) of 0.3-2 mm (av. 0.7 mm) in light to dark matrix. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa21.6±8.0 (n=17); pyroxene Fs17.6±3.6Wo1.6±0.9 (n=11); mesostasis An8Or8 (n=1); chromite CRAL87, FFM88 (n=1). Kamacite Ni=5.5, Co=1.0 (n=2); taenite Ni=41.7, Co=0.3 (n=2) (all wt-%). Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.55 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3, S2, W2) Specimens: 20.7 g on deposit at Kiel, Yu Cao holds the main mass,19 g with Ziyao Wang and 12 g with Bart. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
