Zufar, Oman

Find: 2007 Apr 16

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H~4)

History: Discovered about 12 km NNE of Qitbit on Apr. 16, 2007

Physical characteristics: Many dark brown fragments totaling 348 g

Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) brown recrystallized matrix with well-developed chondrules (av. ~0.5 mm), and completely oxidized metal and sulfide. Vugs and cracks are filled with Fe-hydroxides and carbonates.

Geochemistry: Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.87

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H~4, W5)

Specimens: 21.5 g on deposit at Kiel, 38 g with Bart.
