Northwest Africa 12491 (NWA 12491) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2018 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L~6) History: Purchased at Hamburg Mineral Show Dec. 2018. Physical characteristics: 84.7 g brown stone covered with fusion crust Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) Brown mottled, recrystallized, brecciated matrix, pervaded by black shock melt veins, with nearly complete recrystallized chondrules, metal and sulfide inclusions Geochemistry: Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.92 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L~6, W1) Specimens: 18.7 g on deposit at Kiel, Bart holds the main mass. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
