Northwest Africa 12461 (NWA 12461) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2018 March Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) Petrography: Chondrite with well defined small chondrules (average apparent diameter ~200 μm) set in an abundant fine-grained iron rich matrix. FeNi metal is the main opaque mineral. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa20.8±23.3, Fa PMD 102%, range Fa0.8-64.6 (n=8). Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.08±0.03 wt% (n=9).Orthopyroxene Fs4.4±2.6Wo0.7±0.2 (n=2). Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.06. Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
