Northwest Africa 12526 (NWA 12526) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2017 Classification: Primitive achondrite (Acapulcoite) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Aziz Habibi in Erfoud, Morocco 2017. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) one brown stone of 13.4 g, many fine crystal faces on the surface, without fusion crust. Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) Strongly recrystallized texture with olivine, pyroxene, and plagioclase. Polished thin section shows completely oxidized metal, while a larger cut fragment presents areas of fresh metal. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa12.4±0.2, FeO/MnO=23 (n=5); pyroxene Fs11.7±0.1Wo2.2±0.3, FeO/MnO=13 (n=6); Ca-pyroxene En51Fs5Wo44 (n=3); feldspar An19Or3 (n=9); chromite CRAL88, FFM68 (n=1). Oxidized metal: Fe~55, Ni~3, Co~0.2, P~0.3 (n=3) (all wt-%). Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.51 Classification: Primitive achondrite (acapulcoite) Specimens: 2.7 g on deposit at Kiel, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 2.9 g with Bart. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
