Northwest Africa 12459 (NWA 12459) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2005 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5) History: Purchased by an anonymous collector from a dealer at the Munich Show in 2005, subsequently acquired by the Hollis Collection and then donated to PSF. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Sparse chondrules occur within a recrystallized matrix containing relatively abundant altered metal. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa19.3-19.8, N = 3), orthopyroxene (Fs16.9-17.2Wo1.3-1.6, N = 2), clinopyroxene (Fs6.1-6.3Wo46.1-45.0, N = 2). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5). Specimens: The entire specimen including one polished thin section is at PSF. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
