Northwest Africa 12482 (NWA 12482) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2018 March Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R3) Physical characteristics: Single crusted stone. Petrography: Chondrite with well-defined small chondrules (~300 µm) set in abundant matrix. Sulfides (pentlandite, pyrrhotite) are the main opaque minerals. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa28.0±14.9, Fa PMD 49%, NiO 0.13±0.04 wt%, Cr2O3 0.09±0.07 wt% (n=5). Orthopyroxene Fs14.2±9.3Wo1.1±0.3 (n=3). Chromite Cr#=0.85, TiO2 3.42 wt%, Al2O3 5.16 wt%. Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 3.35. Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R3) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
