Northwest Africa 12548 (NWA 12548) Mauritania Purchased: 2019 Jan Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3) History: Purchased in Zagora in January 2019 Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with packed, well-delineated chondrules, with average apparent diameter 380 μm (n=19). Opaque minerals are Fe,Ni metal and Fes. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa17.6±8.0, range Fa0.8-25.7, Fa PMD 34% (n=11), Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.11±0.21 (n=9). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs18.2±1.2Wo2.0±0.8 (n=6). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3). H group from magnetic susceptibility and chondrule size. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
