South, Morocco

Find: 2014

Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite)

History: A single stone of 70 g, possibly paired with others found within 20 km. Found in 2014 in the valley of Afra by Elhossin Elguirah and bought from Mohamed Elguirah in Tan Tan in January 2016.

Physical characteristics: Crusted stone. Interior is light gray.

Petrography: Brecciated igneous rock with variolitic texture. Main minerals are plagioclase and orthopyroxene. Acessory troilite, metal, chromite.

Geochemistry: Orthopyroxene Fs61.1±1.0Wo2.6±1.0, FeO/MnO=32.2±1.0 (n=3). Augite exsolution Fs27.0Wo43.4 (n=2). Plagioclase An87.6Ab12.0Or0.4 (n=3).

Classification: Eucrite, brecciated.

Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Jean Redelpserger.
