Northwest Africa 11843 (NWA 11843)

Purchased: 2018

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL7)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Dark-brownish individual partly covered with fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite shows a thoroughly recrystallized texture of predominantly olivine and low-Ca pyroxene with more minor albitic feldspar. Rarely some relict chondrule fragments are encountered. Opaque phases are troilite, Ni-bearing pyrrhotite, and FeNi metal. The meteorite contains some small and locally restricted regions that appear melted and recrystallized.
