MacKay Glacier 14001 (MCY 14001) 77°14.084’S, 158°07.606’E Antarctica Find: 2015 Jan 14 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CM2) Physical characteristics: 1.5 × 1.5 × 1 cm, angular shape, uncrusted, dark colour, chondrule in relief (15 vol%) Petrography: Chondrule abundance: 20%. Average apparent chondrule diameter: 250 µm. CAI Abundance: 7%. Phyllosilicate in chondrule mesostasis; modest alteration of mafic silicates in chondrules. Abundant phyllosilicates in matrix. Silica plus Al2O3 = 13 wt%, FeO = 53 wt% and MgO = 13 wt%. Geochemistry: Olivine: Fa0.3-57, Low-Ca pyroxene Fs0.6-5Wo0.15-5 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CM2).
