Northwest Africa 12567 (NWA 12567)

Purchased: May 2017

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK5)

Petrography: This meteorite consists of fine-grained matrix (75 vol%), poorly defined chondrules (average apparent diameter 910±320 µm, n=14), low-Ca pyroxene grains, and plagioclase. No CAIs were observed. Metal, troilite and abundant Cr-rich magnetite are present in the matrix.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa25.0-26.6; Pyroxene Fs18.3-19.8, Wo0.4-1.3 (EPMA); Plagioclase An17.5-22.3, Or3.2-5.2 (EDAX).
