Northwest Africa 12551 (NWA 12551)

Purchased: 2019 Jan

Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R3)

History: Purchased in Zagora in January 2019

Physical characteristics: 29 stones ranging from 1.1 to 82.8 g. Cut surface reveals dark interior with small chondrules set in abundant dark matrix.

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with small chondrules set in abundant matrix. Sulfides are abundant.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa30.8±10.8, Fa PMD 31%, range Fa 13.8-41.3, NiO 0.15±0.07 wt%. Low-Ca pyroxene Fs30.8Wo1.5 (n=1).

Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R3)

Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz.
