Northwest Africa 12553 (NWA 12553) Morocco Purchased: 2019 Jan Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3) Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with large chondrules (~mm) and CAIs set in an abundant fine-grined iron-rich matrix. Opaque minerals are Fe,Ni metal, sulfide, magnetite. Geochemistry: Olivine 17.2±16.1 (n=6). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs4.4Wo3.4 (n=2). Defocused (10 µm) microprobe total in the matrix is 95.8% (n=2). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
