Northwest Africa 12554 (NWA 12554)

Morocco

Purchased: 2019 Jan

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3)

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with large chondrules (~mm) and CAIs set in an abundant fine-grined iron-rich matrix. Opaque minerals are sulfide, magnetite, rare metal.

Geochemistry: Olivine 13.3±13.5 (n=6). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs1.4Wo1.2 (n=1). Defocused (10 µm) microprobe total in the matrix is 96.8% (n=2).

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3)

Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz.
