Northwest Africa 12676 (NWA 12676) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5, melt breccia) History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Niger. Physical characteristics: Three dark brownish fragments without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite is a melt breccia composed of H5 chondritic regions (plagioclase grain size about 20 μm) and abundant up to 1 cm wide recrystallized melt rock veins and pockets with characteristic FeNi metal and sufide spherules. Some spheres are up to 6 mm in apparent diameter. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
