Northwest Africa 12732 (NWA 12732) Algeria Purchased: 2018 Oct Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, unbrecciated) History: Bought from Mohamed Elguirah in October 2018 Physical characteristics: Dark green stone with no fusion crust. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Unbrecciated igenous rock with subophitic texture. Silicates are fractured and have typical grain size of 300 µm. Main minerals are pyroxene and plagioclase. Silica polymorph is present. Opaques are troilite, ilmenite (to 50 µm), metal. Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene Fs56.2±2.4Wo6.4±3.8, FeO/MnO34.1±2.0 (n=5). Plagioclase An77.5±2.5Ab21.5±2.2Or1.0±0.3 (n=3). Classification: Achondrite (Eucrite, unbrecciated). Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Jean Redelsperger. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
