Northwest Africa 12733 (NWA 12733) Morocco Purchased: 2019 Mar Classification: Primitive achondrite (Brachinite) Physical characteristics: Brown stone without fusion crust. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Igneous rock with equigranular texture and typical grain size 400 µm. Olivine is ultradominant over Ca-pyroxene. No plagioclase was observed. Metal and sulfides are present as euhedral grains (to 200 µm), veins along silicate rims, and µm-sized blebs within silcates. Chromite is present. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa29.9±0.5, FeO/MnO 55.2±2.1 (n=3). Ca-Pyroxene Fs9.6±0.1Wo43.5±0.1, FeO/MnO 26.4±0.7 (n=2). Chromite Cr# 0.82. Classification: Brachinite Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE.
