Northwest Africa 12743 (NWA 12743) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5, melt breccia) History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Dark brownish rock with some fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite is a melt rock composed of abundant and partly recrystallized melt rock regions with characteristic FeNi metal and sufide spherules. Few chondritic regions of type H5 (plagioclase grain size about 40 μm) with relictic chondrules and mineral fragments are present; no metal or sulfide veins are observed. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
