Northwest Africa 12803 (NWA 12803)

Purchased: 2017

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Zagora, Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Brownish fragment without fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite displays a chondritic texture with small, mostly flattened chondrules (mean diameter about 0.3 mm) in a more fine-grained dark matrix that contains sulfides and abundant FeNi metal. Olivine is equilibrated; low-Ca-pyroxene is unequilibrated.
