Loulan Yizhi 030        ~40°26’N, ~89°54’E

Xinjiang, China

Find: unknown

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L~4)

History: (Ziyao Wang) Tailu Zhao from Shanshan discovered this stone close to the Louland Yizhi ancient city. Find date and exact coordinates were not documented. Ziyao Wang obtained this stone in December 2018. After cutting the smaller part of the stone got lost, the remnant piece was donated it to R. Bartoschewitz.

Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) brown recrystallized matrix with well defined chondrules (0.4-2 mm, av. 0.9 mm), metal and sulfide completely oxidized. Often former feldspar/mesostasis is leached from chondrules. Cracks sometimes filled with sulfates.

Geochemistry: Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.55

Classification: Ordinary Chondrite (L~4, W6)

Specimens: 2.85 g on deposit at Kiel, 5 g with Bart.
