Northwest Africa 12889 (NWA 12889) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2005 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6) History: Purchased by an anonymous collector from a dealer at the Munich Show in 2005, subsequently acquired by PSF, then sold in 2019 to the Harkness Collection. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Rare chondrules occur within a recrystallized matrix containing altered metal. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.5±0.5 (range Fa25.0-26.1, N = 4), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.3±0.3Wo1.7±0.3 (range Fs21.1-21.7Wo2.0-1.4, N = 3), augite (Fs7.4Wo45.6). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6). Specimens: 56.32 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder in Natalia Blum Collection. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
