Northwest Africa 12895 (NWA 12895) Morocco Purchased: 2019 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Fayssal Mezgouri in Agadir, Morocco, Jun 2019. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) Brown cylindrical stone of 184.5 g without fusion crust Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) well defined chondrules up to 0.5 mm (av. ~0.2 mm, n=30), CAIs and AOAs up to 0.7 mm set in fine-grained brown matrix with abundant metal grains of ~2-30 µm (a few larger irregular aggregates reach 0.3 mm). Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa24.7 (Fa1.9-38.2; Fe/Mn=120±59, n=19); pyroxene Fs3.7Wo1.2±0.7 (Fs0.9-20.5; n=12); chromite CRAL=70, FFM=89 (n=1). Kamacite Ni=5.6, Co=2.0 (n=3); taenite Ni=30-46, Co=0.5-1.5 (n=4). Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.04 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) Specimens: 13.1 g at Kiel and 7.2 g at Halle on deposit, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass and 27 g with Bart. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
