Loulan Yizhi 035 ~40°37’N, ~89°52’E Xinjiang, China Find: 2018 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Wentao Yang in Urumqi/Xinjiang in 2019. This meteorite was discovered in the Loulanyizhi dense collection area in 2018. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) Gray-black stone of 4.7 kg, without fusion crust Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) well developed chondrules (0.2-1 mm, av. 0.5 mm) of various types, chondrule and many mineral fragments set in a brown stained matrix. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa18.3±0.3 (n=42); pyroxene Fs16.1±0.3Wo1.1±0.2 (n=20); chromite CRAL=70-84, FFM=80-89. Kamacite Ni=6.8, Co=0.6 (n=2); pyrrhotite Ni=1.4-5.2 (n=11 (all wt%). Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.98 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5, S3, W4) Specimens: 20.2 g on deposit at Kiel, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 117 g with Bart. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
