Chug Chug 014 22°28.956’S, 69°12.62’W Antofagasta, Chile Find: 21 Oct 2018 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4) History: Meteorite was found on October 31, 2018, by Ilya Chaplygin during a desert meteorite search organized by Timur Kryachko. Physical characteristics: Single brown stone 780 g with angular shape and rare remnants of black fusion crust. Fresh cut of the meteorite exhibits brown interior and fresh metal. Bottom part is covered with light-colored desert material. Dimensions 9 × 7 × 7 cm. Geochemistry: Mineral composition and Geochemistry: EDS-WDS analyses (V.I. Taskaev, IGEM RAS). The primary chondrite paragenesis includes olivine Fa25.75±2.22 (N=10), Low-Ca pyroxene Fs20.2±0.4Wo1.59±0.22 (N=15). Composition of kamacite (in wt.%, N=4): Fe 93.32, Ni 5.97, Co 0.71. Taenite contain(in wt.%, N=4) 35.54 and 0.26 wt.% of Ni and Co respectively. Troilite is close to ideal FeS. Classification: (Pavel Yu. Plechov, FMMR). Ordinary chondrite. L4, S1, W1 Specimens: Mr. I. Chaplygin holds main mass about 744 g. 36 g and thin section, FMMR. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
