Daveytown 001 41°19.911’N, 117°52.214’W

Nevada, United States

Find: 2014 May 31

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5)

History: This stone was recovered by Robert Verish while he was searching for meteorites on a small drylake, on a north-facing stranding-surface.

Physical characteristics: This 30.05 g, well-rounded, oriented individual has a smooth, black-brown fusion-crusted exterior, with one side having a subtle overlipping. Cut surface shows a uniformly dark-brown interior

Petrography: (D. Sheikh, FSU) Chondrules (200-800 µm, N=15). Recrystallized matrix with plagioclase (10-30 µm).

Geochemistry: Olivine, Fa_23.5±0.7(N=25); orthopyroxene, Fs_21.1±0.7Wo_1.7±0.6(N=25).

Classification: Ordinary Chondrite (L5)

Specimens: 6.24 grams at UCLA; main mass with Verish.
