South, Morocco

Find: 2019 Mar 15

Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, monomict)

History: Found by Ahmed Ourbaa on March 15, 2019. Bought from Zaid Oualguirah by Jean Redelsperger in May 2019.

Physical characteristics: A single crusted stone. Cut face reveals a light gray, brecciated interior.

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Brecciated Igneous rock with mineral and lithic clasts (subophitic texture, about 500 µm in size) set in a clastic matrix. Main minerals are exsolved pyroxene and plagioclase. Others minerals: chromite, silica polymorph, troilite. No metal was observed.

Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene Fs63.1±1.3Wo2.7±1.1, FeO/MnO=32.9±2.3 (n=10). Plagioclase An90.4±1.2Ab9.2±1.1Or0.3±0.2 (n=6).

Classification: Achondrite (Eucrite-mmict)
