Northwest Africa 12962 (NWA 12962) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 May Classification: Enstatite chondrite (EL melt rock) Physical characteristics: Three gray "porous" stones lacking fusion crust Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Highly recrystallized rock. No relict chondrules were observed. Main minerals are enstatite with typical size 100 µm and plagioclase to 150 µm. Metal and sulfides (including daubréelite) are found as µm sized spherical grains. Abundant vesicles with typical size 50 µm. Abundant terrestrial weathering products. Geochemistry: Enstatite Fs0.2±0.0Wo0.5±0.1 (n=3). Classification: Enstatite-melt rock. Likely paired with Al Haggounia 001. Specimens: Type specimen and a polished section at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
