Northwest Africa 13047 (NWA 13047)

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3)

History: In May 2019 at the mineral show in Chenzhou Ziyao Wang discovered on the bottom of a box with ordinary chondrites from Northwest Africa some small strange stones and donated some material to Rainer Bartoschewitz. Some of these stones are of meteoritic and others of terrestrial origin.

Physical characteristics: 35.2 g dark gray-brown irregular angular stone with pitted surface

Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) well developed chondrules (0.1-1.2 mm, av. 0.5 mm) of various types set in a fine-grained brown matrix. Metallic phases are almost completely weathered.

Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa17.4 (8.6-17.4; Fe/Mn=42-56, av. 40; n=26); poor Ca pyroxene Fs6.4 (4.6-10.7) Wo3.9 (3.4-4.8); Fe/Mn=22-28; n=4). Kamacite Ni=6.2, Co=0.6 wt% (n=1). Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart): log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.85.

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3, S1, W4)

Specimens: 8.5 g on deposit at Kiel, 21 g and polished thin section with Bart
