Northwest Africa 13150 (NWA 13150)

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CM2)

Physical characteristics: Several black fragments from few milligrams to 0.18 g

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Small chondrules (average apparent diameter 300±150 µm, n=19) and minerals fragments set in an abundant fine-grained, Fe-rich, phyllosilicate-rich matrix. Many chondrules have fine-grained dust rim. Opaque minerals are mostly magnetite and sulfides, with rare metal as small grains enclosed within silicates.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa8.2±10.2 (n=13), Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.37±0.07 wt% (n=5). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs1.9Wo1.0 (n=2). Microprobe analytical total over a 50 × 50 um2 matrix area is 75.6 wt%.
