Northwest Africa 13458 (NWA 13458) Dakhla, Morocco Purchased: March 2008 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5) History: The meteorite was purchased by Svend Buhl from Moroccan meteorite dealer Abdellah Afiniss in March 2008 in Agadir, Morocco. Takafumi Niihara purchased whole rock from Svend Buhl in March 2020. Physical characteristics: Total mass is 6.5 kg. 1 single stone. 80-90% of the meteorite is covered with fusion crust. Petrography: (T. Mikouchi and T. Niihara, UTok; H. Ono, Chiba) Chondrule size is 0.5-1.0 mm. Plagioclase is 10-50 μm. Geochemistry: Mineral compositions: Electron microprobe analysis shows that olivine is Fa17.5-18.6 (N=33) and orthopyroxene is Fs15.4-16.4Wo1.0-3.5 (N=4). Classification: H5 Specimens: A 24 g type specimen is on deposit at UTok. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
