Classification: Martian meteorite (Shergottite)

History: The meteorite was bought by the main mass holder from a Moroccan meteorite dealer.

Physical characteristics: Dark brownish rock largely covered by fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite displays a fresh grayish to light greenish interior and has a fine-grained gabbroic texture predominantly composed of up to 600 µm sized calcic pyroxene, Fe-rich olivine, and often lath-shaped maskelynite grains. All these silicates show strong irregular compositional zoning. Some myrmekitic breakdown assemblages consisting of low-Ca pyroxene and iron oxides as well as patches of Si-rich mesostasis are present. Minor phases include ilmenite, ulvospinel, and pyrrhotite. The meteorite is highly shocked and contains shock melt pockets.

Geochemistry: Ca-pyroxene: Fs_42.5±7.6Wo_30.3±2.4(Fs_29.2-53.2Wo_27.6-35.9, FeO/MnO=35±4, n=12); Fe-rich olivine: Fa_78.0±9.3(Fa_61.9-91.7, FeO/MnO=33±9, n=19); maskelynite: An_58.8±2.9Ab_41.0±2.8Or_0.2±0.1(An_53.6-63.3Ab_36.7-46.2Or_0.1-0.5, n=21); Si-rich mesostasis contains up to 3.5 wt% Al₂O₃
