Northwest Africa 13527 (NWA 13527)

Algeria

Find: 2019

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3)

History: Purchased in 2020 by Shawn Kashay from Mostafa Hnini.

Physical characteristics: Single stone with dark-brown fusion crust.

Petrography: (D. Sheikh, FSU) Sample is an ordinary chondrite composed of abundant chondrules (Av. 1 mm, up to 3 mm) set in a fine-grained matrix. Accessory phases include Fe-Ni metal, troilite, carbonates, and Fe-oxides.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.1±10.5, range Fa0.8-42.4, n=49), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs13.5±9.3Wo1.2±0.4, range Fs1.9-24.7Wo0.6-2.0, n=26).

Classification: Ordinary Chondrite (LL3)

Specimens: 7.3 g at UCLA; main mass with Shawn Kashay.
