Antofagasta, Chile

Find: 2016 Nov 04

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3)

Physical characteristics: Single brown stone.

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with well-defined chondrules (average apparent diameter ~200 µm) and small CAIs set in abundant fine-grained iron-rich matrix. Opaque minerals are mostly kamacite.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa19.2±14.5 (n=5). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs1.6±0.7 (n=2).

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3). Likely paired with El Médano 216.
