Northwest Africa 13680 (NWA 13680)

Purchased: 2020

Classification: Ureilite

History: The meteorite was purchased from a dealer in Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Dark brownish oriented stone without fusion crust broken into three parts.

Petrography: The meteorite shows a cumulate texture composed of up to 1 mm sized abundant olivine and more minor pigeonite grains. Olivine displays characteristic reduced rims in contact with FeNi-metal or graphite.

Geochemistry: reduced rims in olivine: Fa2.5-6.3, N=4; olivine contains 0.99±0.03 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.36±0.01 wt% CaO; pigeonite contains 1.46±0.02 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.46±0.01 wt% Al2O3
