Northwest Africa 13718 (NWA 13718) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2020 Oct Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL6) Physical characteristics: A single stone with 80% fusion crust Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Recrystallized rock with granulitic texture (triple junctions). Grain size 100 µm. Main minerals are olivine, orthopyroxene, and Ca-pyroxene. Opaque minerals are troilite (100 µm) and less abundant metal (20 µm), chromite to 200 µm. Shock veins. Geochemistry: Plagioclase An10.2Ab85.1Or4.7 (n=1). Chromite Cr# = 0.87 (n=2). Metal Fe 29.8 wt%, Ni 68.8 wt%, Co 1.36 wt% (n=4). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL6). Unusual metal composition with only FeNi2. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE.
