Northwest Africa 13701 (NWA 13701) (Northwest Africa) Find: 2019 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4-7) History: Purchased from a dealer in Morocco Physical characteristics: Partially crusted stone. Cut surface reveals a light brown and gray interior with sparse metal grains. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Brecciated ordinary chondrite. A few well-defined chondrules with devitrified mesostasis are visible. Some clasts (several mm in size) are higly recrystallized with triple junctions and exsolved pyroxene. Geochemistry: Type 7 lithology Fa30.3±0.2 (n=4), orthopyroxene Fs24.2±1.0Wo2.2±0.4 (n=4). Type 4 lithology low-Ca pyroxene Fs22.7±1.8Wo0.6±0.4 (n=4, range Fs20.6-25.3) Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4-7) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE.
