Northwest Africa 13705 (NWA 13705) (Northwest Africa) Find: 2020 Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite) Physical characteristics: Partially covered by fusion crust. Cut face reveals a fine-grained grey interior. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Fractures but unbrecciated granular igneous rock with typical grain size 400 μm. Main mineral is pyroxene. Accessory plagioclase and silica polymorph. Metal and troilite to 100 μm, and also as aligned μm-sized grains within silicates. Ilmenite to 300 μm. Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene Fs29.4±0.6Wo5.8±2.0, FeO/MnO = 30.2±4.0. Plagioclase An88.9Ab10.5Or0.6 (n=2). Classification: Achondrite (diogenite, unbrecciated) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE.
