Northwest Africa 13710 (NWA 13710) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: August 2020 Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite) Physical characteristics: A single partially crusted stone. Cut face reveals a light grey interior with mm sized dark clasts. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Igneous fractured granular rock. Ultradominant mineral is unzoned low-Ca pyroxene. Other minerals: troilite (5 µm), rare metal (5-10 µm), chromite (to 50 µm). Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene Fs29.4±0.6Wo3.1±0.4, FeO/MnO = 29.0±2.5 (n=5). Chromite Cr#=0.80 (n=2). Classification: achondrite (diogenite) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
