Northwest Africa 13714 (NWA 13714) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: October 2020 Classification: Lunar meteorite (feldspathic breccia) Physical characteristics: A single flat grey brecciated stone. Cut surface reveals a dark grey interior with clasts. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Breccia with mineral and melt rock clasts (to mm) set in a matrix that can be glassy (with vesicles) to clastic. Main minerals are Ca-pyroxene and olivine. Other minerals: metal, troilite (10-20 µm), ilmenite. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa41.9±6.8, range Fa33.2-50.2, FeO/MnO = 92.8±7.8, CaO = 0.38±0.08 (n=5). Ca-pyroxene Fs34.2±4.2Wo19.8±3.4 (n=7), Fs19.0Wo42.0 (n=2), FeO/MnO = 52.9±4.0 (n=9). Feldspathic mesostasis An97.0±0.8Ab2.8±0.7Or0.2±0.1 (n=7).
