Los Vientos 417 (LoV 417)        24° 42.527’S, 69° 54.864’W

Antofagasta, Chile

Find: 2009 Dec 29

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3)

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with well delineated chondrule with average apparent diameter 390±170 μm (n=25). Olivine are chemically zoned. Opaque minerals are metal and troilite. Shock veins.

Geochemistry: Fa17.2±8.95, range Fa0.6-29.2, Fa PMD = 36% (n=6), Cr2O3 in ferroan oivine 0.04±0.0 wt% (n=5). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs11.1±4.6Wo0.8±0.5, range Fs6.5-17.4 (n=3).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3). H group based on chondrule size and magnetic susceptibility

Specimens: Type speciment at CEREGE. Main mass with Eric Christensen.
