Northwest Africa 13719 (NWA 13719) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: October 2020 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) Physical characteristics: A single brown stone. Cut face reveals a brownish interior with small chondrules. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrules (average apparent diameter 220±150, n=32), chondrule fragments, and CAIs are set in an abundant fine-grained, iron-rich matrix. Opaque minerals are metal and troilite. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa30.0±8.0, range Fa12.8-41.1, Fa PMD = 22%, Cr2O3 = 0.07±0.05 (n=17). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs4.0±3.1Wo1.1±0.2 (n=3). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
