Northwest Africa 13874 (NWA 13874)

Purchased: 2020 Dec

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4)

History: The meteorite was found in August or September 2020 in Western Sahara as one piece of 362.6 g, purchased by John Higgins from a local dealer in Zagora, Morocco, and finally sold to the current owner.

Physical characteristics: Dark brownish rock with some fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite shows a chondritic texture with well-defined chondrules (apparent mean diameter about 0.6 mm) set in a grayish to light brownish matrix with metal and sulfides.
