Zagora 005 30°18’16".78N, 5°53’23.65"W Morocco Find: 2020 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CR2) History: Found in 2020 by Youssef Agouzal in the general area where NWA 801 (CR2) was found. Bought by Jean Redelsperger from Zaid Oualguirah in 2020. Physical characteristics: A single irregular dark brown fragment. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with large well-delineated chondrules (average apparent diameter 1350±690 µm, n=12) set in a fine-grained iron-rich matrix. Abundant metal under the form of blebs (to mm) in the matrix, and decorating chondrules. The low EPMA analytical totals in the matrix indicate the presence of hydrous phase. Geochemistry: Olivine 2.8±0.5 (n=3). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs3.0±0.8Wo0.8±0.4 (n=5). Matrix defocused analyses: FeO 37.6±1.3 wt%, analytical total 84.5±1.0 wt% (n=3). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CR2). Likely paired with NWA 801 (CR2). Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Mais mass with Jean Redelsperger. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
