Northwest Africa 13834 (NWA 13834) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Sep Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite) Physical characteristics: Single stone, lacking fusion crust Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Igneous rock with ophitic texture. Grains size 600 µm. Main minerals are pyroxene and maskelynite. Other minerals: chromite, troilite, metal, ilmenite. Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene Fs27.8±0.3Wo2.8±0.1, FeO/MnO = 29.0±1.9 (n=6). Maskelynite An96.0±0.2Ab4.0±0.2Or0.1±0.1 (n=7). Chromite Cr# = 0.74 (n=1). Classification: Achondrite (diogenite). Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
