Northwest Africa 13839 (NWA 13839) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2020 Oct Classification: Primitive achondrite (Acapulcoite) Physical characteristics: Brownish stone. Interior is dark with metal. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Recrystallized equigranular rock with granoblastic texture. Grain size 250 µm. No relict chondrules were observed. Main minerals are orthopyroxene, olivine, and diopside. Rare sodic plagioclase, with lobate shapes. Opaque minerals are metal and troilite. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa3.8, FeO/MnO = 22.8 (n=2). Orthopyroxene Fs4.6Wo2.0, FeO/MnO = 12.6 (n=1). Diopside Fs1.3±0.1Wo45.4±0.6, Cr2O3 0.20±0.03 wt%, FeO/MnO = 14.0 (n=3). Plagioclase An21.1Ab75.7Or3.2 (n=1).
