Purchased: 2020 Oct

Classification: Primitive achondrite (Acapulcoite)

Physical characteristics: Brownish stone. Interior is dark with metal.

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Recrystallized equigranular rock with granoblastic texture. Grain size 250 µm. No relict chondrules were observed. Main minerals are orthopyroxene, olivine, and diopside. Rare sodic plagioclase, with lobate shapes. Opaque minerals are metal and troilite.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa_3.8, FeO/MnO = 22.8 (n=2). Orthopyroxene Fs_4.6Wo_2.0, FeO/MnO = 12.6 (n=1). Diopside Fs_1.3±0.1Wo_45.4±0.6, Cr₂O₃ 0.20±0.03 wt%, FeO/MnO = 14.0 (n=3). Plagioclase An_21.1Ab_75.7Or_3.2(n=1).
