Northwest Africa 13926 (NWA 13926) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2005 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by an anonymous collector from a dealer at the Munich Show in 2005, subsequently donated to PSF and in January 2021 purchased by Kevin Sevey. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Largely recrystallized with sparse chondrules. Accessory phases are altered kamacite, troilite, sodic plagioclase, chromite and apatite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.9±0.3, range Fa25.4-26.2, N = 4), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.8±0.1Wo1.4±0.2, range Fs21.7-21.9Wo1.2-1.6, N = 4), augite (Fs10.5±1.9Wo47.1±0.1, range Fs9.1-11.8Wo47.0-47.1, N = 2). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 53.61 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. K. Sevey. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
