Northwest Africa 13928 (NWA 13928)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2005

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H6)

History: Purchased by an anonymous collector from a dealer at the Munich Show in 2005, subsequently donated to PSF and in January 2021 purchased by Kevin Sevey.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, Brown U.) Largely recrystallized with rare remnant chondrules. Accessory phases are stained kamacite, troilite, sodic plagioclase and chromite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.9±0.2, range Fa18.6-19.2, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.7±0.1Wo1.4±0.3, range Fs16.6-16.8Wo1.0-1.6, N = 4).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H6).

Specimens: 58.06 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. K. Sevey.
