Northwest Africa 13847 (NWA 13847)

Purchased: 2021 Jan

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5, melt breccia)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a dealer in Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Dark brownish rock without fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite is a melt breccia composed of H5 chondritic regions with some recognizable chondrules (plagioclase grain size about 40 μm) and abundant up to 1.0 cm wide recrystallized shock melt veins and pockets with entrained mineral fragments and characteristic FeNi metal and sulfide spherules.
