Ramlat Fasad 575 19°03.906’N, 53°23.742’E Zufar, Oman Find: 29 Jan 2016 Classification: Relict meteorite (Relict iron) History: Found during a search for meteorites. Physical characteristics: Five small black fragments found close together, largest fragment 9.1 g. Strongly magnetic. Petrography: Lamellar mixture of magnetite, maghemite and iron hydroxides . Geochemistry: Bulk analysis (Activation laboratories, INAA) Fe = 54.7, Ni = 6.60, Co = 0.39 (all wt%); Cr = 41, Cu = 70, Ga = 16, Ge = 20, Ir = 0.57, Pt = 25, Au = 0.31 (all μg/g). Classification: Relict iron meteorite. Element concentrations affected by terrestrial weathering. Probably paired with Ramlat Fasad 574 found at a distance of 156 m. Specimens: 4.5 g at NMBE.
